Dec. 28, 1960 - Three Men Die In Snake House At The Zoo. Three men were killed today in the snake house at the London Zoo, after being overcome by poisonous fumes in a pit 10 feet below ground. Another man is critically ill in hospital. the dead men are two contractor's workmen, named Moon and Robinson, and Mr. Ted Dexter, the head reptile house keeper. Moon and Robinson arrived to work on an artestian well below there reptile house. The two men climbed down the pit, uncovered the artesian well and were overcome by fumes. Their cries for help were heard by Mr. Dexter, and Mr. Tony Hedgson, assistant to Mr. Dexter. They rushed to the pit but they too were overcome.
