Nov. 11, 1963 - Dougal The Lonely Lion.: Dougal, the lion seen here is unsusual in that he love humans, and while he is in quarantine that he love humans, and while he is in quarantine at Plymouth Zoo, the zoo chief George Houghton and his 19-year-old daughter Gillian have to spend at least half an hour a day stroking him and talking to him. Dougal has always been fond of humans since he was adopted by a family in Uganda when he was 10 days old, a year later he was bought by a restaurant owner, Dougal was allowed to sit in the dining room to watch the humans feed! on his arrival in this country in July, Dougal had to go into quarantine until January, which is a very harsh sentence for a sociable lion
