Aug. 08, 1964 - An American Experiment In Tanganyika. Living With The Natives: About a month ago a party of Americans - three boys and six girls left the United States as the first American group of the Experiment in International living to Tanganyika. It is also the first in East Africa. They visited a number of places of interest - before going to their work a number of places of interest - before going to their work project - a bush farming site about forty miles from DaresSalaam. Here sixty seven families from various parts of the country have assembled to try cooperative work aided by the Government. The Experimenters were warmy welcomed by the families and were given two mud huts for living space - and are now working with the families carrying out the same tasks as the natives - planting - digging - picking cotton -milking etc. They have got used to having rats running around in their huts at night. They eat the same type of food as the natives -Ugala - a solid block of corn meal boiled in water -beans and rice. They return to DaresSalaam in a week - and to the United States in September.
