Mar. 16, 1965 - New Elephant And Rhinoceros Pavilion At London Zoo. Cocktails and Candlelight. The new Elephant and Rhinoceros Pavilion at the London Zoo was opened to the public yesterday for the first time. It contains four elephants housed in paired pens. The animals stand slightly above the level of the darkened public arena - and are viewed against a Cycloramic wall. The pavilion is also fitted with heated pools - for the daily baths.
