Jan. 01, 1965 - Police Dog Ronty Puts His First up. - Nine Year Up Police Dog, Rinty, went on duty for the last time yesterday - and then put his feet up. Rinty spent the first hours of his retirement asleep with his paws in the air in front of the fire at his handler's home. He was retired because his master, Police Constable Ben Wilkinson, has been promoted sergeant. And Sergeants do not handle dogs. Rinty lives with the Wilkinsons in Lebanon Gardens, Wandsworth. But when the sergeant leaves home for Chelsea police station today Rinty will stay behind. His master said last night: From Now on I will have to pay for his food - 10lb. of stewing beef a week - But I don't mind a bit. He has been a courageous friend to me. Photo Shows:- Rinty pictured with his master Sergeant Ben Wilkinson
