Aug. 25, 1965 - Goat mascot for the Royal Welch Fusiliers. Lt. Peter Reece, of the 1st. Battalion of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, visited the London Zoo yesterday with Goat Major Donald Evan Pugh, of Maidenhead, and drummer Lance Corporal Tony Johnson, of Liverpool, to receive a new mascot for their regim ent. By tradition the goat is called Billy, through this battalion normally speaks of their mascot as The Goat. The battalion first had a goat mascot at the Battle of the Bunkers Hill in 19775. Th eighteen-month old goat has been undergoing training at the London Zoo so that he may become used to marching with the Regiment on parade. Photo shows the goat put up a bit of a struggle when the time came to leave the Zoo - but he was soon quietened by Goat Major Donald Evan Pugh
