Animals - Aquariums - Archeology - Insects - Fossils - Zoos

Nov. 14, 1962 - London Zoo's Hand-Reader Tiger Cub: Renee, a six-month-old tiger cub,s one of this year's proudest additions to the London Zoo. And she has the devotion of four keepers to thank for being alive. Ranee was abandoned by her mother, Kumari, when she was six weeks old. Under the supervision of Mr. T. Sangster, the Lion House Head Keeper, the attendants eorked in shifts to care for and feed the cub. She slept along-side the gas stove ion a bed of old clothing ion the keeper's kitchen. Now a bouncing 50lbs, she is no longer allowed the free run of the kitchen, but is let in at some meal times for a saucer of milk. Photo shows Ranee gobbles hungrily at a bottle of milk held to her by a keeper today
