Jul. 27, 1964 - Experts Go Mountaineering - To Preserve the Rapidly Vanishing Golden Eagle. The Golden Eagle, which is rapidly becoming an extremely rare bird, in spite of being protected by law practically everywhere, is still to be found in mountain regions of Switzerland. Recently mountaineering experts climbed to the peaks of the 2, 000 metres high Mount Pilatus for the purpose of ringing young birds in their native aerie's, risking their lives in an effort to preserve the grand creatures.
