Dec. 27, 1967 - Boxing day meet on the beach ? Only one boxing day meet was held in England, on the beach at Felixstowe. Elsewhere, foot and mouth precaution kept the hounds in their kennels. But no one objected to the Sproughton Foot Beagles having an outing on the shingle. Said the chairman of the beagles, who normally hunt hares on farmland near Ipawich: ?We are conscious of our responsibility and we asked permission from the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Farmers? Union and other bodies concerned.? Permission granted, the beagles set out to make it to the sort of occasion the followers expect. The six huntsmen wore their green coats. The joint master, Mr. John Kingston Smith, drank the traditional claret cup before and after the beagles made their three and a half mile run. Photo Shows: The Sproughton Beagles beside the seaside
