Jan. 01, 1968 - House Built For Rhinos Wins Award.: Ben and Mashobeni, the white rhinos at London Zoo have a detached house with central heating and a pond in the garden; a place of such excellent design that yesterday it won a commendation from the Civic Trust. Only one factor mars an otherwise blissful domestic scene. After living together for two years, they have no children. No one is quite sure why. Their keeper, Mr. Stan Smith, ventured the opinion that Mashobeni was winning, but Ben had shown no interest. It may also be that white rhinos have never yet bred in captivity.
