Jul. 07, 1967 - Baby hippo at Whipsnade.: A young baby hippopotamus has recently been born at Whipsnade Zoo (date of birth 2nd, July), and was on show yesterday. Its weight was approaching 100 pounds ans as its sex has not yet been determined the calf will be named ater. the mother of he new arrival is Belinda, who arrived at Whipsnade in August 1950 with thele Henry'. They were both then about two years old. since then Belinda has produced several calves, many of which have been makes. Henry, the father, has not yet seen the baby hippo and he will be kept separated from the mother and calf for some time. Photo shows first picture of hippopotamus Belinda and her new calf, m at Whipsnade Zoo yesterday
