Animals - Aquariums - Archeology - Insects - Fossils - Zoos

May 05, 1970 - Away from the city bustle.: A fine study of Anchor, who with three other shire horses from the 20 at the Whitbread stables in Chiswell street, city, yesterday started a month's holiday away from the City bustle, at Beltring, near Paddock Wood, in the hop gardens of the Weald of Kent. Anchor is no ordinary drayhorse. He leads the team of six that pulls the Lord Mayor's coach each year, a tradition begun in 1955. Eighteen-year-old Anchor has an appetite to match his one-tone, 17-hands physique - a daily consumption of 1 1/2 stone of hay, a stone of greens, 9lb of cats and 1lb of bran
