Jan. 01, 1971 - An Okapi baby in the Basel Zoo : A happy and very rare event in the zoological garden in Basel, when last week Okapi-mother Pallas gave birth to a female. Extraordinary not only for the reason that Okapis are very hard to bring up in captivity, but because this young Okapi is the first of the second zoo-generation.
