Jan. 01, 1972 - Head horse-keeper fo a young's brewery awarded the B.E.M celebrates a double event - he is 50 today.: Harry Ranson, head Horse-Keeper of Young's brewery in Wandsworth, had a right riyal champagne party at the stables today - for two reasons: It is in his 50th birthday and he was awarded the British Empire Medal in the queens Birthday Honours, published today. And because all horses have their ages calculated from left to 1st. January each year, it was the birthday too, for the 24 Shire horses at Young Brewery. Photo shows Harry Ranson celebrates the double event with Robert one of the Shire horses, as he pours champagne into his daily ration of bran at the brewery today
