Oct. 03, 1970 - The first Donkey - twins in a German zoo. A surprise to science specialists.: Was the sensational birth of donkey - twins at the zoological gardens of Hellabrunn in Munich. At about 6 o'clock in the morning of 29th September 1970 the attendant Schorschi Mittermier found the two little donkey-babies in the donkey-box. The birth of twins is very rare amongst soild-hoofed animals. The 9-year old Spanish donkey-mare Lora was the mother of the twins. By the way, the birth of donkey-twins has not been known yet to scientists and it is probably the first time altogether that it took place. Immediately after the birth the twins were weighed. One of them, called Lorbas, had a wieght of 20 kilos and the other, smaller one weighed 17 kilos and got the name Lord. Being weak in the first place this second donkey-twin only lived for 36 hours in spite of the doctor's treatmenrt. Both of the fillies were heasses. Photo shows Family-idyl.
