1969 - New Mate for London Zoo's Polar Bear Pipaluk': Sabrina the Polar Bear which arrived at London Zoo on the 27th, March, is now on view with her bear-friend Pipaluk, the zoo's famous star'. Sabrina, who is named after the legendary nymph of the Seven River, was born at Bristol on the 18th November, 1966. Her parents are Nina (from Copenhagen Zoo) and Sebastian, who was himself born at Bristol Zoo. Sabrina's new friend, Pipaluk, was born at London Zoo ib teg 1st, December1967, and made his public debut on 14th, March 1968. He is the first Polar Bear to be successfully reared at London Zoo since the famous Brumaa in 1949. Although Sabrina is still slightly larger than Pipaluk, they are already good companions. Polar Bears do not normally breed until they are between five to seven years old. Photo shows Pipaluk (left) and Sabrina - getting to know each other - at London Zoo today
