Apr. 12, 1969 - Debut For Rare Kodiak Bears At Whipanade: Out in the spring air for the first time today at the whipanade Zoo two male Kodiak Bear Cubs who were born on the 21st of January The bear cubs are called Duba and Reya, names of Icelandic Towns. The cubs are dark brown with white Collars and weight about 18 lbs. The parents are Wilma and Wilbur who are six years old ans came originally from Detroit Zoo, . This is their first litter of Cubs. and the third litter to be bred successfully at Whipanade Zoo, and in the whole if Britain. Photo shows The two cubs try to get up a slope while their mother waits at the top for them
