Feb. 02, 1973 - Exporting Lions to Africa: Windsor Safari Park, Berkshire are Exporting lions to Africa for breeding purposes. On Friday, ten lions who were born at the Safari Park, leave Southampton for Africa to augment the depleted families in their ancestral lands. They are destined for the Johannesburg Game Reserve. Yesterday, four of the lions were being prepared for their journey and made docile with the aid of anaesthetising darts, before being placed in travelling boxes. Photo shows 2 1/2 year old lion Nero in his cage, with his tongue out as if in satisfaction at the thought of going to Africa
