1971 - One Ostrich Egg is Equivalent In Weight To Thirty-Two Hen's Eggs: An egg recently laid by one of three ostriches in the Knuthenborg Wild Animal Reservation, on Holland Island in South Denmark, weighed as much as 1, 826 kilos. It was put on the scales and it took 32 hen's eggs in captivity and on this occasion were sent to the Copenhagen Zoo where they have technical facilities for incubation. Photo shows 32 hen's eggs are needed to balance the weight of this ostrich egg in Denmark
