Aug. 08, 1974 - Talking Orang-Utan For TV Programme: A talking orang-utan called Cody is the star of Thames Television's Today programme tonight. He will be interviewed by John Stapleton. Cody, a 13 months old, was adopted by Ph. D research student Keith Laidler six weeks after birth. Since then he has been trated as a human baby, sleeping in a cot in a nursery, given toya and a climbing frame to play with, and is being taught to speak - his vocabulary now totals two half-words. Cody is now about 18 inches tall and will grow to an eventual 4 ft 6ins. he lives at Flamingo Park Zoo, near Malton, Yorkshire.
