Jan. 01, 1976 - Small Visitor From Siberia Lost In Tokyo.: Japanese show interest in a small waterbird found walking in a Tokyo street no doubt looking for something to eat. The bird is thought to be a species of coot many of which fly from Siberia when rivers and ponds are covered with ice preventing them from feeding on weed. The birds fly to Japan in winter by stages via the Kurile islands, and Hokkaido to live on the ice-free watersuntil early spring. Many of them live on the moat surrounding the imperial palace in Tokyo
