Nov. 25, 1974 - November 25th 1974 Baby gorilla at Jersey Zoo Cheek to cheek encounter at the Jersey Zoo where the female gorilla Zaire was born in October. Making a fuss of her is Mr. Jeremy Mallison, Zoological Director of the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust, who has been studying gorillas in their natural habitat while accompanying the Zaire River Expedition. The infant was named by Gerald Durrell, the Trust's hon. director, in recognition of President Mobutu's wildlife conservation measures
