Jan. 09, 1974 - Rough-haired pygmy terrier saves six German Shepherds whelps from suffocation: Niki...a rough-haired pygmy terrier was just taking his usual Sunday stroll with his owner, Mrs. Rita Wagner, in the outskirts of Munich when he started all of a sudden towards the near-by Underwood. The mistress who followed her pet swiftly made quite a discovery. In a tied-up plastic bag she found six little German Shepherd cubs which were just about to be suffocated. Right away Mrs. Wagner took the helpless whelps home and finally informed the fire-brigade asking for help. By means of a broadcasted radio massage a home and nurse was found for the six helpless whelps which were merely about two weeks old. Mr. Max Petschko, head of the Animal Home in Landshut, applied for getting the six tiny cubs under his care. Photo Shows Mr. Petschko feeding the German Shepherd foundlings with a doll's baby bottle which has to be performed every three hours
