Jul. 07, 1978 - Hazel The Elephant Says Goodbye To Freedom: Hazel, an elephant from Windsor Safari Park, says goodbye to freedom yesterday, after spending 19 hours in Windsor Forest. Hazel escaped form the Safari Park on Tuesday, by parting steel fences and uprooting trees. She was finally captured yesterday after being concerned in a hollow and given a heavy dose of tranquiliser, then the 2 1/2 ton, 16 year old Indian Elephant, was harnessed to a tractor for the 3 mile walk home. Photo shows Hazel the Elephant walks calmly back to her home after her 19 hours of freedom in the forest
