May 05, 1979 - 40, 000 years old baby Mammoth at the USSR National exhibition Earls court: Nearly forty thousand years ago the Mammoth roamed the plains of Northern Europe and Asia. At least one of these long extinct creatures enjoyed a very short life-seven months to be exact. Somehow it became trapped in a natural cradle of crashed at one and mud which froze and preserved it over the millenia. The baby mammot was unearthed by Soviet scientists in 1977 analysis showed that it had laid in its ice-cradle for nearly 40, 000 years. It is nearly four feet long, three feet tall and has a two foot long trunk. Named Dima, the baby mammoth will be on display at the exhibition in Earls Court, London from tomorrow until June 10th
