Jun. 16, 1976 - New baby Gorilla born at the London zoo: Lomie, the 11-year-old Gorilla, gave birth to her baby, the first baby gorilla to be born at the London zoo, early this morning. The father is the Bristol's zoo gorilla, Samson. The baby gorilla weighed about 4 1/2 lbs at birth. Lomie had been pregnant for 256 days. Photo shows proud mother Lomie cradles her new baby in one of her powerful arms when it made its debut at the London zoo today
