Animals - Aquariums - Archeology - Insects - Fossils - Zoos

1978 - Payment By Elephant Wildlife park owner Hugh Taylor made a cheeky bid to balance his rates bill. He offered Chiki the elephant in settlement of his, 413 arrears. But the council officials at Yeovisl, Somerset declined to accept the ten ton tusker. And the town's magistrates ordered him to pay up by more conventional means. His court room protest was made because he disagrees with the way rates are assessed on his Cricket St. Thomas wildlife park. Photo shows: Hugh Taylor with Chiki the elephant when they made their court room protest recently
