Animals - Aquariums - Archeology - Insects - Fossils - Zoos

Feb. 02, 1979 - Pretty Polly saves the day: Legal history was recently in Denmark when a parrot helped police to make an arrest. The animal was found sitting on the shoulder of a man lying in the street. They were both taken to the police station, where the man proved to be too intoxicated to speak. The parrot, who announced as Jacob, informed the police that he was owned by Hertha. This turned out to be the name of a pet shop owner who had suffered a burglary of a dozen parrots and about thirty budgerigars. Unfortunately Jacob could offer no further evidence on the theft. Picture shows Jacob perched on the shoulder of his owner, Hertha Andreasen, who runs a pet shop
