Jun. 01, 1981 - Roast Bison of England: American Bison have been introduced to Numberside in an attempt to produce cheap, lean beef. And it could lead to the large-scale meat production on thousands of acres of rough grassland too poor to support domestic beef cattle. The Bison is one of teh earliest known species of Buffalo, the animal family which has been developed over thousands of years into today's domestic cattle. Mr Peter Dunning, a farmer, of Bishop Burton, near Beverly, has bought two young bison cows from a British Zoo. They will be joined soon by a young bull. Photo shows The unfamiliar scene down on the Humberside farm where beef farmer Mr. Peter Dunning has begun to keep bison
