Sep. 09, 1983 - Artificial insemination of elephants. For the first time a team of the zoo in Basle, Switzerland, tried the artificial insemination with a female African elephant. It will take 22 months - the time of pregnancy of elephants to find out, whether the experiment was a success or not. The team of Basle collected the sperms from wild elephants and brought ittionof the 32 years-old female Induna ( Our pictures)
