Sep. 09, 1977 - Victor The Giraffe Dies For Love: Victor, the amorous Giraffe from Marzwell Zoological Park near Winchester, fell in love, last Thursday and couldn't get up again. He had spent the night with three girl giraffes and collapsed into a splits. Firemen were called in to try to get him back on his feet but all attempts failed. He had been dosed with drugs to keep his strength up and yesterday a frame was built around him for a desperate attempt to hoist him up. People from all over had sent hm get well cards and he had any sympathatic visitors, out today, as zoo officials carried out the task of hoisting him it is beleived that Victor died from shock.
