Sep. 20, 1977 - Victor the giraffe dies for love: victor, the amercus giraffe from marwell zoological park near winchester, fell in love last Thursday and couldn't get up again. He had been dosed with drugs to keep his strength up and yesterday a frame was built around him for a desperate attempt to hoist him up. people from all over had sent him get well cards and he had many sympathetic visitors, but today, as zoo officials carried out the task of hoising hi it is believed that victor died fro shock. photo shows Victor pictured yesterday receives attention from vet john walmsley and his assistants. They were giving him glucose injections while he drank from his water bucket
