Aug. 08, 1979 - Saul-the Baby Gorilla has a Check-up: Saul, the baby Gorilla at the London Zoo, today had a routine check-up in the Zoo hospital. Now a bouncing 16-pounder. At one time after his mother Lomie and lost interest in his he began to lose weight, so keeper Ron Smith and his wife, Barbara, came to the rescue and took the gorilla into their home and hand-reared him. Saul was born on October 14th 1978. Photo Shows Vet John Knight, and his assistant Heather Fleming check over Saul's heartbeat at the London Zoo
