Feb. 29 Who would not like to do so - being small or grown-up when seeing these handmade ladies. Ingrid Schmitz Laaf (picture) is the creator of these enchanting puppets, who practically populates her whole flat in Dusseldorf/West Germany. The former owner of a bar began to engage herself in the branche 8 years ago. The first thing was painting in the main flowers and landscapes. In 1976 she became inspired by the former wardrobe master of the Dussledorfer Schauspielhaus Karin Dahldorf-Vermeeren, and since then she is producing dolls - one more beautiful than the other and each one totally hand tooled. First Ingrid Schmitz-Laaf is shaping the head out of plasticine, which later is hardening, next the body and limbs are sewed and filled and last not least the doll gets her face.When finished so far, each Eve, of course, gets an individual dress. The artist needs about 35 to 40 hours in order to finish a single puppet. Ingrid Schmitz-Laaf has one great desire: To realize a doll's exposition in her town, together with other doll's producers of West-Germany
