Anti-apartheid demonstration outside Barclays Bank, London

Jan. 01, 1977 - Anti-Apartheid campaigner Peter Hain this afternoon led a demonstration outside Barclays Bank in Richmond Road, Putney. They were protesting against Barclays South African subsidiary, investing over a million in South African defence bonds, bonds for a special fund to finance the expansion of South Africa's armed forces. This is the same branch of Barclays Bank where Peter Hain was accused of stealing £90 in October 1975 and was later cleared by a jury at the Old Bailey.
