Nov. 11, 1953 - Anti British demonstrations in Rome over the Trieste Question. Steel helmeted guards encircle one of the demonstrators during the riots in Rome which followed the killings in Trieste of Italians during the demonstrations there. The target of the hate-ridden hysterical men, mainly young students, was the British Embassy. Signor Pella, the Italian Prime Minister, called for Punishment for those responsible for the shooting of the pro-Italian demonstrators in Trieste - in a broadcast to his people
