Anti-Israel demonstration in Calcutta, India

Sep. 09, 1969 - Massive Anti-Israel Demonstration in India. Muslims in different parts of India observed Protest Day last Friday (Aug 29) to condemn the burning of the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. They kept their shops closed, marched through the streets in processions wearing black badges and carrying black flags, held rallies and raised black flags on housetops. In Calcutta over 500, 000 Muslims attended the central rally in the City. It adopted a resolution condemning Britain, the USA, West Germany and other for siding with Israel which has been violating the UN resolution on vacating Arab territory and gradually eliminating Muslim holy places and saying that the burning of the Al Aqsa mosque was a direct challenge to the honour and sentiment of the Muslim world'.
