1960 - Anti-Atomic weapons demonstration at Foulness: A non-violent anti-Nuclear weapons demonstration was held this morning against the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Foulness Island, near Southend, Essex. Under the name Operation Foulness the demonstrators lay down in the roads and had to be removed by police.
