1960 - Anti-Nuclear Weapons Demonstration at Foulness. A Woman is carried Off. A Non-Violent anti-Nuclear Weapons demonstration was held this morning against the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment, at Foulness Island, near Southend, Essex. Organised under the name of Operation Foulness the demonstrators lay down in the road and had to be removed by police.
