Sep. 09, 1961 - Anti-bomb demonstrators arrested as they stage sit-down protest in London: Hundreds of ban-the-bomb demonstrators were arrested in Trafalgar Square this afternoon as they staged a sit-down protest against the Government's nuclear and defence policy. The meeting had been banned by the Home Secretary and 4, 000 policemen were on hand to control the demonstration. Photo shows a couple of demonstrators being carted into a waiting bus by police. Special buses were chartered to augment the police vans
