Anti-nuclear demonstrators arrested in London

Sep. 09, 1961 - ANTI-BOMB DEMONSTRATORS ARRESTED AS THEY STAGE SIT DOWN PROTEST IN LONDON: Hundreds of ban-the-bomb demonstrators were arrested in Trafalgar Square this afternoon as they staged a sit-down protest against the Government's defence policy in relation to nuclear weapons. The meeting had been banned by the Home Office and 4, 000 police were on hand to control the demonstration. Photo Shows: Five policemen - a few of them smiling although somewhat thinly - carry off one of the sit-down demonstrators
