Anti-nuclear demonstrators arrested in London

Sep. 09, 1961 - 1, 000 arrested in yesterday's ban-the-bomb sit-down demonstration in Trafalgar Square: ban-the Bomb demonstrators jammed the cells of London police stations last night after the big sit-down in Trafalgar Square. Soon after midnight - seven hours after the protest began - more than 1, 000 arrests had been made. The planned march to a mass sit-down in Parliament Square never came off because a solid blue line of police trapped the demonstrators in Trafalgar Square.
