Dec. 12, 1971 - Attempt To Block Oxford Street Fails: An anti-pollution demonstration organised by the Oxford Street Action Committee whose aim is to ban private cars from Central London altogether, failed in their attempt to block Oxford Street today. Many of the demonstrators, who had brought along hundreds of balloons, were removed by police.
