Apr. 18 Museum of American art opens at Claverton Manor.: Standing high above the River Avon Valley, Calverton Manor, near Bath, is the home of the first Museum of American decorative art ever to be established outside the United States. The purpose of the exhibit exhibition is to give the British public and other overseas visitors a clearer and more complete idea of the extent and quality of American art through out its history. Not only have the more conventional art forms been shipped across from the United States but complete rooms with their contents have been reassembled at Claverton. These demonstrate well the changes of fashion in decor throughout American history. From time to time temporary exhibits will be on view at Claverton. This year the Museum features the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Collection which succeeds in showing that though a young country America is by no means bereft of valuable home produced art. Among the new exhibits in this section are the canvasses by Edward Hick's Leedom Farm and Grave of William Fenn. The Museum which is open this year from July 1st to october 18th will be a permanent exhibition in Britain. Most of the exhibits have been donated by by Americans concerned that American art and the American way of life should not be under-rated. Edward Hick's painting of the grave of WIlliam Penn. Painted in oil around 1847
