Oct. 10, 1952 - Armour Purchase for the Tower. : Fifty-two pieces of armour from the collection of the late William Randolph Hearst, the American newspaper proprietor, have been bought for the Tower of London at a cost of 30, 000. It is the most importance acquisition of modern times. The Pilgrim rust subscribed 8500, the National Art Collection Fund 7500, the Tower Armouries Fund 7000 and a special Exchequer grand of 7000.
