Feb. 02, 1956 - Major Presents Sword Gift From Japan - To Museum.. Said To Bring Bad Luck'. Major E.B. Stewart of the Royal Army Ordanance Corps recently handed over to the Pitt Rivers Museum at Oxford - a Japanese Sabre - which was handed over by an officer in Singapore in 1947 at the execution of war criminals. Major Stewart who lives in Whitstable in Kent carried the sword around the world - after it had been given to him in Japan - and took it home - and then bad luck appeared to strike him and his family. His wife fell ill - his children fell ill - his father was injured in an accident - and the Major's own car was damaged by another vehicle - so he decided to get rid of the sword - which he thinks brought him bad luck.
