Sep. 09, 1957 - Picture Commemorates the Suez Canal Landing. to be sent to Malta: This Picture -depicting the assault on port said-Egypt-November 6th. 1956. painted by Mr. William Herbert Lane, an Admiralty artist, will be sent to Malta to Commemorate the landing by the 40 royal Arine Commando. The incident depicted is the first Occasion on which Helicopters were used as as sault transport. in the background is the statue of Ferdinand de Lesseps which was later Destroyed by the Egyptians
