Jun. 06, 1959 - Rembrandt Self-Portrait Worth £20, 000 Lay in Attic for Ten Years! An old painting lay in a family's junk room for ten years was revealed in London this afternoon to be a Rembrandt self-portrait-worth more than £20, 000. Ar Sotheby's a fortnight ago it was sold by a Glasgow schoolmaster for only a £1, 700. The new owner had it cleaned only to discover that it was worth nearly fifteen times as much. Painted about 1628 its measurements are 9 3/8 X 7 7/8 inches. The new owner isn't thinking of re-selling it. The painting is unsigned. but so is the only other recognized Rembrandt self-portrait which is in Cassel, Germany. Photo shows This is the beautiful Rembrandt self-portrait
