Feb. 25 Holiday Archeologists Uncover New Fire Roman Mosaic Pavements at Verulamium Working during their holidays, more than 100 students have volunteered to help Mr. Sheppard S. Frere, of London University's Institute of Archeology, at the excavations taking place on the site of the ancient Roman Verulamium, at St. Albans, Herts. They have uncovered what is claimed to be the finest Roman mosaic pavement in Great Britain revealed in recent years. It is part of the floor of a stohe built house put up after the fire had destroyed sarier wooden structures at the end of the second century. It is seven feet square, has a design of a fountain with two dolphins in red, safron, white, pink and blue. The young archeologists are now hoping to dig even deeper and reach levels of A.D. 1961 when Boadiciea set fire to the Roman City. The Newly revealed mosaic pavement at Verulamium is surrounded by other diggings where work is going on in the hope that further patches may be discovered
