Feb. 29 THE SERIOUS BUSINESS OF CLOWNING All the world loves a clown according to the popular song, and the ceramic clowns created by well-known potter Kristen Pratt are certainly gaining in populakity. Kristen, who has a studio at Beaulieu, Hants, has loved the circus since her childhood in South Africa. To help preserve the individuality of her hand-made clowns she has enlieted the help pf Bill Thompson, better known as Bruno the clown, who has been acting as her moddl. I think it's sad that the circus clown is losing some of his former glory, and this is my way of restoring it, she explains. Kristen's clowns are fast becoming collectors° items and sell widely both here and abroad
